Yes We Can Youth Clinics is one of the most successful clinics for adolescents and young adults with psychological issues, addictions, and behavioural problems.
To expand our organization, we are looking for an expert by experience counsellor for our international clinic in Hilvarenbeek.
Want to know more about Yes We Can Youth Clinics? You can read all about it on this page.
As an (group) counsellor at Yes We Can Youth Clinics, you play an indispensable role in guiding and motivating our fellows. Your life experience makes you a valuable colleague in our multidisciplinary team. During group sessions, you share your own story, which immediately creates a strong connection with the fellows. Your unique life experience enables you to look beyond masks and build trust quickly.
At Yes We Can Youth Clinics, everything revolves around unconditional warmth, safety, and the right confrontation at the right time. Many young people here have experienced complex problems, and many colleagues recognize this from their own experience. This creates a strong bond and mutual understanding between fellows and colleagues. The strength of the group helps fellows find the will and strength to truly change.
Connection and togetherness are central to our work with the fellows and within our team. We truly do it together, regularly checking in with each other. Each day begins with a multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) where all disciplines – psychiatrists, therapists, coaches, and the medical team – discuss what is happening in the group and how we can support one another. Together, we create a treatment that precisely meets the needs of the fellows.
In addition to leading group sessions, you contact external self-help groups for fellows who leave the clinic after their 7 or 10-week programme. You ensure they know where to go when they return home, in addition to aftercare and staying in touch with other fellows. For those heading home, you prepare a personal speech to make the farewell ceremony special.
Each week, you warmly welcome new fellows at the start of their recovery journey, offering them a listening ear. Besides the daily group sessions, you also lead the community meeting where we come together as a whole community to discuss important topics.
You want to give back what you have received yourself. You are someone who has experienced clinical treatment, is at least three years in recovery, and lives fully abstinently. You have followed the 12-step programme or 10 actions and live by this programme. You are not afraid to be vulnerable and can empathize well with the fellows. Of course, you have an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written, and possess good administrative and communication skills. Preferably, you have experience leading groups and you live in the Netherlands.
As a counsellor, you work on a weekend day a few times a year. On this day, you share your life story with the fellows on Saturday or Sunday, where respect, openness, honesty, and willingness are of utmost importance.
When all else fails, Yes We Can Youth Clinics provides a solution for many young adults, aged 13 to 25, struggling with mental health issues, addictions and behavioural problems. Every year, we treat more than 1.000 young people in our national and international clinics. Our treatment programme consists of a 10-week residential treatment programme, followed by a 10-week aftercare programme. We have proven to be successful: about 74% of our former fellows no longer need specialised care after completing Yes We Can Youth Clinics.
Since the start in 2011, unconditional warmth, safety and confrontation at the right time are pivotal. Together with other young people (called “fellows”) from all around the world, they will learn to recognise and acknowledge their problems, ask for help and speak out. In parallel with the child’s treatment, parents/carers will participate in an intensive family coaching- and counselling programme. During the treatment, over 500 highly specialised healthcare professionals work hard to help the fellows and their families turn hopelessness into happiness.
